The Porsche 944S2R track build

Hehehe, 1st post...

Here is the photo progression of my 1989 944 S2 track build.  The car's chassis & engine has 147K on it and was in very good condition save a few bits of rust on the front fenders.  The car was purchased in late June 2008 and has been in work since.  It is presently at J3 Motorsports in Buford, GA getting a 6pt cage/rollbar installed, new clutch, a replacement torque tube, alignment, etc.

Once I find out how healthy the motor is, I will take her out for at least 1 track weekend before I do a full motor rebuild.  After that, she goes back on stand and the engine get removed.

Stay tuned.  Much more to come...

Enjoy.

Hmm... image tags not working... Your car sounds a lot like one a guy name Chad is building. ;)

Actually, there is a button in the editor (yellow with mountains and sun) that will allow you to paste the image.

Tried to go in and fix each photo... Turned into a complete PITA. Sorry for hassle. Posting photos should be as a click of the mouse. C.

I went through and fixed them just to be sure everything was working. You can post a picture just by clicking on the picture icon in the toolbar and pasting the URL. I think the confusion is the [URL] tags. Those are for a different system. This forum does not understand them.

Actually, I think this would have worked better in the Photos section. Look under My Apps - Photos.

Quite a project though. There's nothing like that new race car smell.

Will this be a Spec 944?

Traknut, quite a nice job you did on the car. How hard was it realigning the left fender when it was reinstalled?

Tracknut, that's a very clean job on the interior. The shocks look like the Ground Control setup using the 3012 rears. What sway bars will you use? Will you be racing? I know it's not a 944 Spec car, but what class and series will you be racing in if you do?
