Last weekend at Sebring, a BMW club racer blew up five (yes, that's 5) engines during the course of the weekend. He was awarded the "spirit of club racing" award at the end of the weekend. Since I have never received this award, I too aspire someday to be the worthy recipient of such recognition. I need to understand the many ways to blow up motors, let's see - downshift to 11,000 RPM? Or remove all the oil in order to evade the parasitic power loss of the oil pump? Come to think of it, the same logic might apply to the coolant/water pump! One might accept the failure of one motor in a weekend as bad luck, or as a stretch maybe two motors, but how does one explain FIVE motors?

Do what they do in the Lemons series...place a large funnel in the oil fill port and allow various bystanders to contribute what they feel like to the lubricating system of your motor. Beer, gravel, unfinished hot dogs w. relish, the occasional small dead rodent. That'll get you there in short order :) |

Wasn't it a Mercedes or similar? :) Hilarious. I'm slapping together a ride for one event this year. Still have no clue as to which one. CMP still looks enticing, but so does the true 24hr enduro at Nelson's Ledges.
