Hi guys, Looking at the previous thread, I see there should be info from the race tire manufacturers on pressures. I'm looking to see if anyone has information on the Continental tires currently run in the Sports Car Challenge. I get my tires from the Compass 360 guys (always a great source for the budget track guy!). I run my tires around 40psi hot. Some say go higher, some say lower. I know there is suspension setup/alignment and vehicle weight to factor in, but if someone has information I could use as a starting point that would be great. Thanks! |

Depends on the footprint measured by cross tread heat readings. You can always set the pressure after a few good laps to get the best temp balance possible out of your alignment. That pressure number should be in the ballpark with the manufacturers recommended number as they do test for max performance. Otherwise you just may have to look at your setup. |

I do have the ability to measure the temperature across the tire width. To change the readings, the two parameters to play with are suspension settings (camber, toe, caster) and tire pressure. What is an acceptable temperature difference inner/middle/outer? I assume if I see a linear decrease from inner to outer readings, then backing off camber would help. If I see hot inner and outer, less middle, I need more pressure. Too hot in the middle less pressure. Also, I can't seem to find specs on the recommended Continental temperature specs for a baseline. If anyone has them, please let me know. Thnaks! |

Definitely call Conti for specs on a ball park pressure and also a camber to try n zero in on as they test for best performance. Remember that a slight linear decrease from inside to outside temps are a sign that inside wall is controlling contact patch tension which is proper. |
