Shroth Quick Fit Belts

I'm considering upgrading my streetable track BMW M3 (E36) from its stock belts with a CG-lock to the Shroth Quick Fit 4-point harness that plugs into all the existing seat belt mounts.

I'm thinking these are the right upgrade for my program which is essentially DE events until I can afford (time/money) to go racing. Also I'm not sure I'm ready to put a half-cage/race seat and compromise rear seat ingress/egress plus Quick Fit harness retains the stock 3-point belts in front and rear.

Any comments good, bad or indifferent .....before I take the plunge ?

We tried them in Suzanne's car (more old parts from Allan) and we really don't like them (though apparently Allan did).

She found they are too hard to get in and out of and didn't really hold her in that well. Nor did she find them comfortable. I tried them and found they were better than the stock belts but not that much better.

We now have her Recaro SPG race seat and 6-point Schroth racing belts in the car. She still uses the Schroth 4-point belt for the passenger in the stock seat. RAVEN did a very nice aluminum bracket to mount the race seat and the 6-point belts without cutting into the car. It goes in and out with the seat in 15 minutes.

Do yourself a favour and skip this mod. Use that money to buy a good race seat and just use the stock belts for now. I did that for years. 90% of the improvement comes from the seat not the belts.

When you're ready, you can then go for a roll-bar and a real race harness. Then you don't have to buy new bents twice.

Also, if you do the 4-point belts, you have to buy 2 sets. One for you and one for the Instructor - equal restraint rule. With a seat and 3-point belts, you only have to buy one seat. Both occupants have equal restraint.
