Hey guys. I was wondering what your opinion was of this... In many pro series, as well as those that we run in, the drivers will have their national flag next to their name. I was wondering if you guys knew of any standard for this. Is it based on country of birth? Citizenship? Heritage? Your favorite colors? I ask because, as I get more serious and do more driving of others' cars, gain more exposure, etc, I feel like I should be accurate about this. My parents were both born in Sicily, but I was born here. Up to this point, I've run the Italian flag beside my name. No real reason aside from being proud of my heritage (we all should be). I also justified it to myself since I could, if I wanted to, apply for dual-citizenship. No one has ever questioned my having the Italian flag until now. My fabricator has built a car for the One Lap of America, which I'll be driving, and he was questioning this. Now, I firmly believe that it has nothing to do with the car and everything to do with the driver, so it is ultimately 100% my decision. So, if I run the US flag, it will be because I want to or feel I should. So, back to the original question... What determines what flag a driver should run beside their name. If Formula 1, WRC, etc have some standard, that's what I'm looking for. Maybe the FIA has a standard? I'm looking for hard evidence, but I'll entertain opinions as well ;) Thanks! -Anthony Magagnoli |

I think it's just where you feel you are from. Mine is Canadian. My wife would use Quebec. Jean-Luc has half Canada and Half Quebec (which half comes first?)... Though Quebec is not technically a country, I always stop at the duty free to bring back cheap beer. |

As Peter said I use a Canada/Québec flag, the Canadian being first ( I just noticed ! ) Obviously, we are proud of our french heritage...... BTW we do have the best looking girls in North America And very good beers..... I also have my name writen in Braille alphabet, because I support MIRA foundation. They raise and train guide dogs for the blinds in Canada No idea what the rule of the road is about flags Seems to be the country of origin/citizenship of the driver http://www.driversmeeting.com/drbergeron/albums/31/1885
