I finally got around to reviewing some of my in car video. This particular one is from the first race of the Mid Ohio club race weekend, and I found that race a very instructive one. Mark was on the pole, and I was beside him. Being on the inside and getting as good as (if not slightly better) jump on the start, he beat me into the first turn. He and I were so close in speed there wasn't a lot I could do but keep the pressure on and hope he made a mistake. I could see he was overdriving the car - tire smoke from locking up the brakes and serious scrubbing of the front wheels through some of the turns. In the waning laps I was getting closer and closer to him. On the second last lap on the front straight I got a good jump out of the last turn and pulled beside him slightly. Filling his side view mirror that much apparently distracted him sufficiently that he missed his braking point and went very wide in turn one, allowing me to finally get past him and take the win.
